The Saturday Welcome Club is a fortnightly session that we run with a group of young refugees aged between 16 and 18 years, who have recently been resettled in a home in Oxford. During these sessions, volunteers may coordinate small health presentations or icebreakers that are aimed at promoting good health or improving health literacy. These are followed by group activities like arts and crafts, music sessions, sports or visits around Oxford.

This is open to medical students in all years. All volunteers must have completed a Safeguarding Children Level 2 certificate in order to participate. In addition, volunteers must have a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check completed before working with the young people, which is usually completed by the Medical School as part of their entry requirements.
